Description: | Purpose of Job The Principal Gender & Economic Inclusion Policy and Investments Expert is a new senior role. The Expert is a member of the Gender and Economic Inclusion Department in HQ which plays an important role in implementing the Bank’s mandate to promote transition in the EBRD’s countries of operations (COOs). Under the overall guidance of the Director, Gender and Economic Inclusion, and working in close cooperation with G&EI colleagues across all sectors in the three pillars as well as other departments under the VP3 (i.e. Climate Strategy and Delivery (CSD), Policy Strategy and Delivery (PSD), Impact & Partnerships (IP)), the Banking department and other Bank groups (Credit, Environmental and Social Teams,, Legal, Communications etc). The post holder will lead and coordinate the gender mainstreaming and inclusion actions in the Bank’s investments in Egypt, with special attention to access to services, sustainable infrastructure including at municipal level. The post-holder will lead and contribute to promoting gender mainstreaming and inclusion in project designs, while assessing and monitoring the inclusion and gender elements of projects that demonstrate and achieve high transition impact and/or gender additionality for the client company and/ or national agency. The post holder will lead on engaging on policy priorities and dialogue for promoting inclusion and gender equality in line with country strategy priorities and represent the GEI department in key thematic and donor working groups in the country. In addition, the Expert supports, in coordination with HQ colleagues, the regular assessments of “transition gaps” in relation to gender equality, youth and regional inclusion. These transition gaps assessments are used by the Bank to identify operational priorities for project level investments, in sector and country strategies. |
Qualifications: | Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications •At least a Masters degree in Development Studies, Gender Studies, Economics, Business Administration, and/or or relevant Social Sciences. ; •At least 15 years experience in Substantial and demonstrated experience in progressive responsibility in mainstreaming gender and inclusion in projects in international organizations in a variety of sectors with experience in supporting private and public sector; •Strong social analysis and research skills including command of quantitative and qualitative methods of research, and knowledge of gender and inclusion issues in Egypt and other Countries of Operations; •Knowledge and experience applying results-based approaches to project and program management; •Excellent oral and writing skills in English. Strong communications skills in Arabic will be considered an advantage; •Fieldwork experience in EBRD countries of operations will be considered an advantage; •Experience in gender equality and human capital development in other international institutions is considered an advantage •Ability to think strategically, and to innovate, results oriented, ability to work under several deadlines simultaneously; •Ability to work in a multicultural team. |
