Purpose of the position

The Movement Cooperation Officer shall contribute to developing and implementing the delegation’s objectives for cooperation with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (the Movement) in line with the ICRC’s Movement policies and in consultation with the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC). S/he shall contribute to building positive relationships between the ICRC and other Movement components, particularly the ERC of the country where s/he is assigned. 


Main Responsibilities

  • Implements the Cooperation objectives/activities and contributes to their development under the supervision of the Cooperation Coordinator. 
  • Ensures that the National Society (NS) provides operational and financial reports for ICRC supported activities on a regular basis in accordance to established formats and procedures; arranges training and regular coaching in financial management and reporting to NS staff. 
  • Supports the delegation’s Finance and Administration Manager and the departments involved in cooperation activities to make payment and follow-up on expenses to the ERC.
  • In consultation with respective ICRC departments, ensures that elements of National Society Development (NSD) are duly taken into consideration in the fields of joint cooperation.
  • Contributes to specific reports, compiles and updates information, prepares reports on cooperation and related issues.
  • Ensures necessary administrative work is implemented on time for Cooperation Department.
  • Contributes to the analysis of the security, socio-economic, cultural and political environment relevant to the ICRC and shares relevant information with colleagues.
  • Supports Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) in terms of capacity building and operational partnership within the framework of the ICRC Cooperation department.
  • Keeps regular contact with relevant departments of the ERC and updates Cooperation Coordinator (CoopCo) on important issues related to the operational activities. 
  • Entends support to all other ICRC departments to implement their operational partnership projects with the ERC. Contributes to the planning and follow up of capacity building and operational partnerships in Cairo delegation.
  • Manages Coop filing system for institutional record.
  • Coordinates and manages the correspondence, keeping appropriate records of such communications, takes and records minutes of meeting when required.
  • Facilitates the practical organization of the Coop Department’s seminars, meetings and workshops, as well as trainings of other departments in relation to the ERC.
  • Organizes proper briefing to new staff member/visitor regarding the COOP activities and ERC.

Job Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent command (spoken and written) of English and/or French. Ideally knowledgeable in another ICRC working language.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience in a field relevant to Red Cross/Red Crescent (RC/RC) Movement Cooperation (inside or outside the ICRC).
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ working experience in any of the RC/RC Movement component
